Default Radio Shack DX-394

I've just purchased one of these for a good price from eBay. I've heard mixed reviews about them, but after having a play around with it, I quite like it (It's ok for a novice in shortwave radio like me!).

Does anyone have any good stations I can tune into? I generally search from 3000 - 12000 and have heard aircraft, amateur radio users and radio stations. I did have a Sony shortwave radio some time ago which is lost in the loft somewhere and I remember once listening to an american search and rescue operation, which was fantastic considering I was using a wire attached to the built in telescopic antenna and lived in the countryside in the middle of a valley!

hmm - considering one of these on evilbay at the moment - heard very mixed reports about them an the one im watching someone has specifically asked fot the serial no so maybe a mod was done (there are plenty of diy mods apparently to improve performance)

how are you finding it then ? - have you tried any data stuff like weather fax etc? - cant remember freqs off he top of my head but easy to google and easy to receive with your pc/soundcard

as for the sony radio - which is it? - they were pretty good on hf

Sorry about the delay, been busy. I'll pull the item from the cupboard when I have the chance and get a picture and model number. If all is well, may be that i'll set it up properly so I can listen all over.

Well i've finally got this connected to the discone patched from the main lead into the scanner and I have to say it's working pretty damn good. A friend from the CB and who has just passed his amateur exam (Congrats) has had a fiddle with it and for the price, I can't go wrong.
